Is Dave’s Killer Bread Vegan? Yes, and no!

Vegan Dave’s Killer Bread with 21 Whole Grains and Seeds.

Almost all of Dave’s killer bread and their bread products are vegan. The only exception and non-vegan type of Dave’s killer bread is the Honey Oats and Flax loaf. It is the organic honey, listed in the ingredient list and considered an animal product by most vegans, which gives this particular loaf its non-vegan distinction.

My family and I have been enjoying Dave’s bread for quite some time, long before starting a vegan diet. We’ve always enjoyed the hearty texture and the ingredients are organic whole grains and non-GMO. I liked having a good whole-grain bread option for my kids when they were younger.

Where to Buy Dave’s Killer Bread

Today, Dave’s Killer bread is available in many grocery stores. You can find a 2 pack of the 21 Whole Grains and Seeds loaves at Costco.

Here are the ingredients for this loaf:

  • Organic whole wheat (Organic whole wheat flour, Organic cracked whole wheat)
  • Water
  • Organic 21 Whole Grains and Seeds Mix (Organic whole flax seeds, organic sunflower seeds, organic ground whole flax seeds, organic brown sesame seeds, organic triticale, organic pumpkin seeds, organic rolled barley, organic rolled oats, organic tolled rye, organic black sesame seeds, organic blue cornmeal, organic millet, organic rolled spelt, organic brown rice flour, organic amaranth flour, organic yellow cornmeal, organic kamut, khorasan wheat, organic quinoa, organic buckwheat flour, organic sorghum flour, organic poppy seeds)
  • Organic wheat gluten
  • organic oat fiber
  • Organic Molasses
  • sea salt
  • yeast
  • organic vinegar
  • organic cultured wheat flour
  • enzymes
  • organic acerola cherry  powder ( this is supposed to be rich in vitamin C)

The 21 Whole Grains and Seeds loaf from Costco makes great avocado toast!

It’s great for sandwiches too. Toast it, and add some hummus, lettuce, cucumber, and shredded carrot for a delicious vegan sandwich.

You’ll also find lots of vegan options for Dave’s Killer bread at Target, Walmart, Whole Foods, and almost any local grocery store.

For example, these Dave’s Killer Bread Burger Buns are very good.

Here is the list of the ingredients:

  • Organic flours (organic wheat flour, organic whole wheat flour, organic barley flour, organic rye flour, organic spelt flour, organic millet flour, organic quinoa flour)
  • water
  • organic cane sugar
  • organic wheat gluten
  • yeast
  • sea salt
  • organic expeller pressed canola oil
  • organic cultured wheat flour
  • organic vinegar
  • organic sesame flour
  • organic acerola cherry powder
  • enzymes

They don’t have any high-fructose corn syrup either! It seems like many buns on the market, even though some may be vegan, do. Dave’s Killer Bread brand is a much better healthier option and they taste great too.

They’re perfect for a vegan veggie burger!

Always Check the Ingredient Lists!

Some other loaves of Dave’s Killer bread to try:

  • Righteous Rye
  • Good Seed
  • Powerseed
  • White Bread Done Right
  • 100% Whole Wheat

Bagels and English muffins are available too.

If I sound like a cheerleader for Dave’s Killer Bread, I am. I do eat, however, and very much enjoy other brands of bread as well. A lot of bread is vegan. You should always read the ingredient lists if you have dietary concerns or just care about what you eat.

Dave’s Killer Bread is widely available, and the ingredients are wholesome, which I like. It’s a good bread with lots of vegan options that seem to please everyone!

How do we know or find out what type of enzymes are used to know if this is truly vegetarian/vegan?

I suggest you contact the company Dave’s Killer Bread directly if you have any questions about the enzymes used.
